Hello everyone!
My French friend is taking Russian in school and he wants to buy a good dictionary where the words are explained in Russian. I used to use the dictionaries by Ozhegov and Dal', but he needs something in a smaller format, about 15,000 words. I myself used le Robert Micro as a complementary source for my elementary french textbook, so I think something like this but in Russian would work just fine. Could you please recommend me any good dictionary? Thank you very much in advance.

What's the intended use of this smaller dictionary? The bigger the dictionary is, the easier it is to translate since more words are in it. Does your friend want to carry it around with him?

Thanks, but unfortunately, this is not what he is looking for. First, his native language is French, and as I as said, he needs a dictionary where definitions are in Russian (толковый словарь).

Thank you for your reply. But this doesn't work: my friend doesn't have any devices. And to be honest, I am really disappointed with Lingvo:French & Russian.

Thank you! The second one is not 'tolkovii slovar', but, I think, the dictionary from lib.ru will be useful.
