Hey everyone!

So I was just looking at some stuff and stumbled upon a few letters in cyrillic. Here's what's troubling.

Now... I'm going to assume that it says "желаний" (which if I'm right, means desires.. ) and I'm saying assume because I'm not used to seeing the "й" written as such.

Is this common amongst Russians? To write such a pronounced little "hat" on the "й"? Or is it simply poor penmenship?

I'd say it isn't common, but nothing extraordinary either - this is obviously an advertisement or a business sign of some sort. Weird/exaggerated/unusual fonts are often used for such things.

BTW, this means "of desires" - the previous word is missing but it could be something like "водопад желаний" (waterfall of desires), or something like that.

No, it's not a poor cursive, it's showing off. Such visual flourishes are rather common, especially in signs and advertising.

The style reminds me of 50s. A lot of cards then were signed in similar way. Желаю исполнения всех желаний - with flourishes.
