The most correct and most oftenly used word for it is "сюжет" though "репортаж" can also be an option.

Передача is the entire program, while a separate story inside the show is either сюжет (if it employs interviews, opinions, and background,) or репортаж (if it's just a piece of a single event coverage.)

It leads me to ask another question about the word "репортаж". I thought that this word was a general word for "reporting".

In the sentence

"The standard of work in the reporting of news from the House of Commons is generally very high"

I would have put "репортаж" for "reporting"

What word should I use for "reporting", please ?
