can anyone recommend a decent, relatively inexpensive beginner russian book that comes with a cd to accompany all the lessons? i have two russian textbooks for school but not being able to hear the pronunciation outside of class is a real problem for me. i can read and write pretty decently and do well on written assignments but my pronunciation needs a lot of work :\

I used the Live From Moscow series which has accompanying cds and dvds. Might be more expensive than you're looking for, but was helpful with pronunciation and listening.

How is that embarrassing? It was a gripping tale of love, shashlyk, and really, really bad fashion! Our whole class took sides on the Tanya/Misha debate: was Tanya a total princess who didn't deserve Misha, or was Misha a spoiled little boy who didn't deserve Tanya? Not to mention Olya and Dennis!!

Unfortunately, I only used Live from Moscow for first year Russian, so I don't know what ended up happening.
