My teacher did not explain this at all, and before I go into her office to try to get extra help, I thought maybe you guys could help with this list of synonyms of надо/нужно and должен

I don't understand the underlying meaning of the different versions.

наверное, наверняка, по всей видимости are out of place in this list because they mean "surely, for sure, probably".

it is испытЫвает потребность

нуждаться - to need, also to be poor ("они очень нуждаются")
пришлось and придется are past and future tenses of the same verb

All the rest are pretty much interchangeable, the difference is only in the way these verbs and phrases govern the other parts of the sentence.

Some examples:

Я был вынужден купить эту книгу. (was forced to, had no other choice)
Мне пришлось/придется купить эту книгу. (I had to buy it)
Я должен был купить эту книгу.
Мне необходимо (было) купить эту книгу.
Мне следует (следовало) купить эту книгу. (This one is often used in recommendations, too: Вам следует обратить внимание на спряжение глаголов.)
Вам стоит купить эту книгу. (As above, but not that strong, it is an advice)
Вам требуется купить эту книгу. (you must)
Вам требуется эта книга (you need it)
Я нуждаюсь в этой книге (I need it, it is very important that I get it)

Испытывает потребность is very bookish and is never seen outside of scientific writings and bureaucratese.

P.S. "наверняка видимо" are two synonimical words, you use one or the other but never both of them side by side.

Я был вынужден купить эту книгу. I had to buy the book. I was forced to buy the book. I had no other choice but to buy it.
Мне пришлось/придется купить эту книгу. - I had (will have) to buy it.
Я должен был купить эту книгу. - as above
Мне необходимо (было) купить эту книгу. - as above, but slightly bookish
Вам следует (следовало) купить эту книгу. - You must, ought to, should buy the book. (A recommendation which is almost an order)
Вам стоит купить эту книгу. You may want to buy the book. (Literally "it will be worth it for you to buy this book, it will totally make sense for you to buy it, it will be very helpful)
Для поступления в университет требуется знание математики. Math knowledge is a requirement, a must to be accepted into the university.
Детям для здоровья требуются / нужны витамины. Children need vitamins for health.
Все живые организмы нуждаются в воде, еде и воздухе. All live organisms need water, food and air.

вынужден,пришлось,придется - you are forced to do something: ты вынужден(present and past), тебе пришлось(past), тебе придётся (future)
должен быть - must be, must
наверное,наверняка - probably
видимо,по всей видимости - it seems
необходимо - necessary
(тебе) следует - you should
(тебе) стоит - you'd better
требуется - needed, requires
испытЫвает потребность, нуждается - need (мне нужна помощь, я нуждаюсь в помощи - I need help)

Мне пришлось сделать это = I was forced to do that; I had to do that
Мне придется сделать это = I will be forced to do that; I'll have to...
Я должен быть там = I [must/have to/ought to] be there (depends on context)
Мне необходимо это сделать = I absolutely need/urge to do that; It's necessary for me to do that
Мне требуется = I need to do that (not as urgently as in case with необходимо)
Мне следует это сделать = I ought to do that
Мне стоит это сделать = For me it's worth doing that
Я испытЫваю потребность это сделать = I feel the need to do that
Я нуждаюсь в том, чтобы это сделать = I'm in need of doing that
