Let's play a game!

I will make a list of words, in English, that convey the idea of two-of-something, or the state of two-ness, if you will. I would like to see a similar list like this in Russian. To the maxim extent possible, place the Russian word alongside the English word that comes closest to the same meaning, provided such an equivalent exists.

two
twice
double
second
duo
dual
bi- (as in biannual, bicycle, bilingual, binoculars, etc...)
couple
pair
twin
tandem

I can do the first one!

two - два  :)

twice - дважды, два раза
double - двойной
second - второй
duo - парный, двойной, дуэт (music only)
dual - двойной, дуальный
bi- same; билингвальный, бинокль
couple/pair - пара
twin - такой же; близнец (if we're speaking of twin siblings or use it figuratively)
tandem - тандем :)

Please note that 'двухядерный' isn't 'bi-' in English. It's 'dual'. Dual core.

I like 4 better. :) We have четырежды as one word. You have once, twice, then a more rare, thrice and then the *ce pattern stops. Though, you do have fourfold, which I'm not sure is exactly the same thing as четырежды/four times. I.e. you probably wouldn't use fourfold to describe a situation that happened 4 times (e.g. you went to the movies four times), would you?

Well, for something like "twofold" we also have stuff like "вдвое"; and for something that happens (or folds!) more than four times, we have the -кратно pattern!

once: 314
twice: 1649
thrice: 42342
I'm probably not even supposed to know this word. :)

you sure you don't want to post this to the community outright? :)

There are also verbs- сердиться/рассердиться, разозлиться. They mean something more like to get angry, but people often use them to mean 'He was angry.'

He's pissed off (by) - Его достало/и (что-то), only used with a modifier.

He was pretty pissed off by those bureacrats - Эти бюрократы его достали.

Without modifier it's "разозлиться", "вспылить" etc. I can't think of any special colloquial expression.

Don't know what I said to piss him off - Не знаю, что я такого сказал, что он так разозлился.

He's mad/furious/outraged - Он в ярости (гневе, бешенстве), also Он взбешён, зол как чёрт.

Рассвирепеть, озвереть, потерять голову от гнева, бешенства, т.д as the extremities. Then выйти из себя - it's like to get mad.

two - два (two apples), двое (two came in), дважды (I've seen it two times)
twice - дважды (I've seen it twice), вдвое (twice as much)
double - удваивать (I double the bet!), двойной (double precision)
second - второй (the second meaning), подтверждать (I second that), секунда (a second ago)
duo - двойной
dual - двойной
bi- (as in biannual, bicycle, bilingual, binoculars, etc...) - двух-, дву- (двухколесный, двуязычный, двухлетний, двухгодичный), би- (бинокль, биеннале)
couple - пара (a couple), спаривать (to couple)
pair - пара (a pair), спаривать (to pair)
twin - двойня, близнецы
tandem - тандем

BTW, in the case with 'близнецы' there may be more than two of them. Pretty much as with 'twins' I guess. However, I've never heard of anything like 'thrins' in English, while in Russian we have 'тройня' to designate three simultaneously born children (of the same mother).
