How to translate "gross salary" and "nett salary", please

Gross salary is the sum that the employer has in his books as paying to the employee.

Nett salary is the sum that the employee actually receives. From the gross salary, the employer takes off a certain amount as "income tax" and gives it to the government. The employer also takes off various social charges which he gives to another part of the government.

Very roughly, in the UK, one third of gross salary goes to the government and two thirds to the employee.

we don't usually use gross salary in Russia, stating income always in its nett value

I usually use "до налогов" (before taxes = gross) and "после налогов" (after taxes = NETT) to explain it

gross salary - зарплата без вычетов, зарплата "грязными".
nett salary - зарплата с вычетами (после вычетов), зарплата "чистыми", зарплата "на руки".

Not exactly. Actually "белая" зарплата" means that the "real" salary equals to "official" one, so that no extra cash (hidden from taxes etc.) is paid.

Colloquial, but very popular terms would be:
gross salary -- "зарплата грязными",
net salary -- "зарплата чистыми".

Except that, unlike in the Soviet era, not too many people know what their gross salary amounts to, since there's not only 13 per cent income tax, but also the Unified social tax, the Pension Fund payments, etc. If you work for the state, or for a huge corporate structure in Russia (except banks and other financial companies,) you most likely only know your net figures.
