liminality

I'm looking for the Russian equivalent of liminality for a paper I'm writing and have yet to come up with anything.  The best I can come up with would be something like threshold-ness -- maybe погорность?  But I doubt that makes sense in Russian.

BTW threshold-ness, if you wished to construct a word like this in Russian, would be something like пороговость (I leave the correct лиминальность aside, just taking into account the construct you've been inventing.) What you wrote - погорность - would be, in fact, on-the-mountain-ness :))

Yes, that's exactly what I figured would happen as soon as I started playing about with words. I think I need a different dictionary -- I'm using Katzner's which otherwise seems to be very adequate, but he doesn't appear to have much in the way of sociology/religious studies terms.

However, I might now make it a priority to fit "on the mountain ness" into something. The idea has made me grin!
