Privet!
My American students want to make a show to celebrate Maslenica. They asked me for частушки - they want some really naughty ones, so that Russian guests will enjoy, but understandable for Americans. Could you advise me any?
Thank you!

However I should say that I am not aware of частушки being a part of Maslenitsa celebration.

Really naughty? Listen to this obscene masterpiece (ftp://hren.tebe.ru/pub/music/chastushki.mp3).

Nobody sing the chastushki now. This is very old and very rural tradition. You will be looking extremely wierd with these chastushkis, IMHO. Or do you want to be more russian than Russians?

Not exactly. I heard singing them during an absolutely urban informal celebration of some holyday a couple of years ago. But the women (not too aged) that sang them were rather drunk.

Maybe you are right. But if somebody could sing chastushki for me, I would feel extremely cringe. Especially if they were Americans. I consider that chastushki are something very unnatural in this sutuation. But perhaps this is only my attitude.

+1 except it's not even old, most of them originated in USSR with few in the late 19th century Russia.

Oh come on. "Nobody you know personally" does not exactly mean "nobody." I happened to know many people who sing, enjoy, and even collect chastushki, especially bad ones (матерные.) I am neither very old (just turned 40) nor too rural (born and grew up in Moscow.) I myself have a collection of chastushki, and we (my girlfriend and I) more than once sported a chastushki contest at our community events (B-days, New Year celebrations etc) to a great success -- and the participation from even younger friends (in their 20s) was overwhelmingly active. Now what? Will you state that we don't exist?

А у нас вчерась в селе такая катастрофия — муж попал под колесо, а жена под шóфера.

And at us yesterday in village such accident — the husband has got under a wheel, and the wife under the driver.

P.S.
(катастрофия) katastrofiya (accident) — This word purposely is mispronounced (correctly to speak "katastrofa"), with distortions that it was similar to an illiterate pronunciation rural people.

(вчерась) vcheras~ (yesterday) The ancient variant of a word "vchera"

Isn't some of the translations somewhat cruder than the orginal? Like the forth chastushka?
Or maybe it is just that may perception of english is different than my perception of russian...

May be English translation has less sense of humor. Russian humor often makes things sound nicer that they really are:)
