Is there any way to add accents when typing with the standard Cyrillic alphabet?

In MS Word, after the vowel which you want to accentuate, type 0301 and then Alt+X. The digits will appear as they are typed, but the magic combo Alt-X will remove the digits and the preceding letter will get a stress accent. By the way, this letter doesn't have to be a vowel. This operation will combine the acute accent with any letter.
