Hey everyone, I had a few questions...

В течение этого новогодних каникул я отдыхал дома.
Would этого have to be in plural? so этих?
Дома, я ничего не сделал, только спал и ел
is sdelal okay here? or should delal be used? and why?
я шёл к моему другу, Джону
is this sentence okay?
глазеть, is there a better way to say stare? somebody stared at me (appalled, that i spoke russian)
Она сказала мне, что я должен отдыхать в течение нескольких недель, что мне нужнo только время.
is this sentence alright?

Is there an online dictionary that tells you accents? I know someone posted here once about a site they made, and I use that program often, but sometimes it doesn't know the words I use, and it also doesn't space words out. Are there any dictionaries online that give accents?

спасибо всем <--- is that okay?

из ближней зарубежия => из ближниx зарубежия?
она укрепляла мой мизинец => is this the right verbal aspect?

Yes

Дома, я ничего не сделал, только спал и ел

делал - because you are describing a continuous process. However you can say За все каникулы я ничего не сделал meaning that you have not accomplished anything.

я шёл к моему другу, Джону
is this sentence okay?
---
depending on context; if you are still describing your pastimes during vacations you should say "Я ходил к своему (not моему) другу Джону"

глазеть, is there a better way to say stare? somebody stared at me (appalled, that i spoke russian)
--
sounds OK if you need a perfective verb; for imperfective use уставиться. E.g.
Когда я заговорил по-русски, все уставились на меня.
Когда я говорил по-русски, все глазели на меня.

Она сказала мне, что я должен отдыхать в течение нескольких недель, что мне нужнo только время.
is this sentence alright?
---
Yes, sounds fine.

sorry, it's the other way round: глазеть - imperfective, уставиться - perfective. My examples are correct though.

I'm not sure about the rules, but I think in "Я ходил к своему (not моему) другу Джону" both variants are OK. Sometimes in such cases I use "мой", sometimes "свой", but in this very case I'd rather use "моему".
*A small maybe stupid note: if I had only one friend, John, I'd say "к своему другу", but I've got a lot of friends and John is just one of them, so I can say "к моему другу".

Pleeaaase, correct me if I'm wrong! And I'm sorry if I've confused anyone :)

1. Этих must be used
2. Сделал and делал have different meanings. First has a sence of accomplishment to it, or could be used to translate "made", were делал is a continuous form. So in your sentance you should say делал.
3. The sentance is fine.
4. I would translate "somebody stared at me" as удивлённо (ошарашенно) посмотрел на меня. The following sentance они глазели на меня would be translated as "they were staring at me". There is no form of глазеть in past tence that is not continuous (none that I'm aware about).
5.I would say Она сказала, что мне нужно отдохнуть нескольких недель. I'm not quite sure what you mean by the second part
6. I am not aware about any sites that give accents (and I assume you mean stresses).
7. спасибо всем = всем спасибо - both fine.

I wanted to type:
...or could be used to translate "made", where делал is...

Only small corrections to add to what already has been said by other commenters:

1. В течение этих новогодних каникул я отдыхал дома.
2. Дома я ничего не сделал, только спал и ел. (Note the absense of comma after дома). The use of "сделал" is fine provided that it is really what you want to say (i.e. as in "I haven't done anythimg while at home, I have spent the whole time just eating and sleeping")
3. Я шёл к своему другу, Джону. (As in "I was walking towards my friend John", but in some contexts "моему" would be acceptable)
4. Глазеть is fine, if you want imperfective.
5. If you want to stress the amount of time required to rest, you can leave the sentence as it is. But usually people would say: "Она сказала, что мне нужно отдохнуть несколько недель: всё, что мне требуется — это время"

All the three dictionaries I've used give accents. The huge arse 'I could kill a cow with this' dictionaries normally do. Oxford is the one I own, but it's not the best dictionary I've used. At school, we had a sort-of old Collins version, which was a great dictionary, I thought. If there's a newer Collins version, that should be good.

...then there was the ancient (I mean 1968) Soviet English-Russian ONLY dictionary...but we only used that for retro value. I felt like I had to mention it.
