Not sure if this has been asked before, and I apologise if it has, but I was curious about Russian chatspeak. Specifically, common "words" such as Lol & Brb.
What are the Russian equivalents/variations?

The same "Lol" or transliterated "Lol" - "ЛОЛ" can be used in russian chatspeak. You can also use "Бугага" or "Ржунимагу" in the same cases.
I don't know any russian analog for "brb" abbreviation.

lol can be also "пацталом" - i.e. rolling under the table laughing.

They're mostly taken from English, sometimes written in Russian(e.g. lol => лол). At least you will be understood if you use English chatspeak.

Really, simple transliteration is used more often than not.
only Russian I can recall are:
oч (очень) - very
нра (нравится) - i like it
оч нра - I like it very much

lol - обоссаться, ржака, паццталом. and also some people (usually gamers) can say "лол".
brb - ща буду, скоро вернусь.

Russian equivalent to LOL is ЛОЛ (http://www.google.com/search?q=%D0%9B%D0%9E%D0%9B), and occasionally one can even see РОТФЛМАО. For "brb" (be right back) the common replacement is "щас" (try to say "сейчас" very quickly, and you'll get this).

Most if not all such words are adopted from English. Everybody use Lol, IMHO, WTF and so on, only with Russian letters - ИМХО, лол, ВТФ.

Лолка - Evolution of Lol (nothing to do with Lolita) that means something funny - story, idea, joke.

Ламер - "loser", which is formed from word "lame".

Фхтагн - which is actually Lovecraft "Fhtagn". Become quite popular for a last couple of years. Why? Beats me.. Serves as a form of statement.
Exmpl. - Я нереально крут бля, фхтагн!

Бля! - Nearly the same as Fuck, but has more meanings I presume. Represents anything from joy to great disappointment and frustration (mostly this).

Сцуко - formed from сука (bitch), means the same but less offensive.

Превед - should I explain this? :) Version of Привет - Hello.

ПМСМ = по моему скромному мнению = IMHO
ЕМНИП = если мне не изменяет память = IIRC ~ afaik

Russian chat words can take a lot of meanings, e.g. жжош can be translated as 'that's a fun' (respectively, ~ +1 or жесть), as 'u r extraordinary', or as 'u r unexpectedly stupid' :)

Lovecraft i suppose is a writer. =)
while "Fhtagn" is a part of the phrase "Cthulhu fhtagn" (may be miswritten).
Most people use it as an intergection, and it's meaning is understood from the context
