Hi everyone!
I'm just in the process of typing up my partner's work for a group project that we're working on in Russian, and I came across a sentence that I'm not sure of. Our prof read over our stuff today and asked us to correct our mistakes and type it up for tomorrow. My partner had written У Мосвкы.... a couple of times when she meant "Moscow has..." (eg Moscow has 49 bridges...). As far as I can remember, our prof corrected all of these to в Мосвке есть, but my partner didn't write all the corrections down and now I'm trying to remember them! In the sentence "С момент основания, у Москвы была оьень беспокойная история", would you write "с момент основания, в Москве была очень беспокойная история"?
Thank you!

Date: 2007-10-31 09:02 am (UTC)Phrase 'У чего-нибудь была история' generally signifies using 'история' as 'story', not 'history'. And for inanimate things is better to say 'Где-то (В Москве) произошла история' if want to tell about story.
