Backstory: This summer I took a three-week intensive Russian lang./lit. course through the Wisconsin Center for Academically Talented Youth. But, given three weeks, we didn't have time to learn as much as I'd like. So...

1) How do you say airplane and airport? When I went to visit a friend from the class, we were naming places in her town and realized that "airport" was beyond us.

2) Is there a way to say "I hate you" other than "I really don't like you"?

3) Does anyone have a recipe for Russian potato salad? My professor made us some, and I loved it. (Diced potatos, peas, and pieces of pickles in what I think was a mayonaisse-based sause stuff.)

1) Airplane - самолет, airport - аэропорт
2) For example Терпеть тебя не могу.
3) I'm not really sure, but i think you're talking about the Olivier Salad
Diced boiled potatoes, diced boiled carrots, peas, pickles, chopped onion, diced boiled eggs, pieces of boiled meat (or sausage), mayonaisse, chopped parsley and dill, salt, pepper

You can replace it with cooked mushrooms (e.g. microwaved champignons) or diced vegetarian wieners. I also add diced raw apple.

P.S. I hate you is also Я тебя ненавижу (this is a direct equivalent).

There is a good online dictionary at www.multitran.ru

1. Самолёт; аэропорт.
2. Literally: "я тебя ненавижу".
3. Boiled potatos, peas, boiled carrots, onions, meat||sausage||mushrooms, pickled cucumbers, mayonaisse.

3. Also boiled eggs and sour-sweet apple. Me personally think, if you are vegetarian, just leave aside meat, mushrooms can change a taste in a really strange way :)
And tip from my Mom: biggest things in this salad ought be green peas, i mean - cut all rest really fine! Good luck.

"I hate you (sg.)" == "Я Вас ненавижу" or "[Я] ненавижу Вас",
"I hate you (pl.)" == "Я вас ненавижу" or "[Я] ненавижу вас",
"I hate thee" == "Я тебя ненавижу" or "[Я] ненавижу тебя".
Second variants allow omission of "Я". Other word orders are possible in certain contexts (e.g. "X я не люблю, а тебя я ненавижу") or poetry.

1) Airplane - "Самолёт", airport - "Аэропорт".
2) Я тебя ненавижу.
3) Dunno what you mean. *after reading comments* yeah, I think you must mean the Olivier Salad. I reckon different families make it their own way. Ours is thus: boiled potatoes, eggs, turnips, cucumbers (people use pickled, I myself prefer fresh), a sertain sort of sausage called докторская колбаса, all cut into little cubes, and after that you should pour it with mayonaisse.

"I hate you"

Just a note on the gradations of meaning: in Russian you can say either "Я тебЯ терпЕть не могУ" (with a sentence emphasis on "терпеть") or "Я тебЯ ненавИжу". Both can be translated into English as "I hate you" but the first one indicates a less intense dislike than the second one. "Ненавидеть" means to REALLY hate someone's guts.

while we're on the subject:
is there a difference between аэропорт and аэродром?
