Library Lexicon
Sep. 22nd, 2007 11:03 amHow would one best ask "to do/perform an inter-loan" по-русски? I.e. a service (sometimes with a fee) where the library locates a book not in its own catalogue but in another library and transfers it to the inquiring library so that one can read it?... or can Russian libraries even do such a thing?

Date: 2007-09-22 07:38 am (UTC)Big collections like Библиотека Академии наук (БАН), that is the library of Russian Academy of Science, or Публичная библиотека, Public Library, can happen to have the book you need, especially if it is not very new. However they will probably only allow you to read it in their buildings and will not send the book to any other library. (I'm not a librarian, so it's just my guess).
