in english when i'm listening to someone talk, i use a lot of little words to show acknowledgement, like 'oh i see', 'uhuh', 'right' and so on. just casual ways of acknowledging someone, rather than expressing surprise. can someone provide me with a list of these in russian? ones you might use yourself?

also i say 'cool' a lot for positive acknowledgment of something someone is saying. is 'круто' too strong in this context?

cyrillic is fine, although there's one i've heard, ага, and i'm not sure if that's 'aga' or 'aha'.

Well, "ага" could be "aga" and "aha".
Others are: понятно, угу, ясно, ну да, вот как.

i wouldn't say "круто" is too strong - it's o'k if you're talking to someone your age. in this case you may as well use "прикольно!" or "здОрово!"

I usually speak "ясно" and "понятно" or "согласен" (these words have more or less neutral colouring) and "точно!" ("Exactly!" - when I'm gladly agreeing with my interlocutor). And, of course, I use "прикольно!", sometimes with a smirk or, on the contrary, with sincere admiration...

As for me, I use the interjection "ага" in everyday life very very seldom... In my case, the "ага" is quite voiceless one... non-bright... So, my "г" is most likely "h".
