Dear all, I'm about to install the windows XP back to my laptop in english and, as I'm now learning russian for a while, would like to have that option you have that you press ctrl+shift and you change to cyrilic characters.
How can I have that?

The shortcut is anything you set it up to be, within the available functional keys combination.

By defaut only Ctrl+Shift and Alt+Shift are available to switch between keyboard layouts. And I can't found the way to set up other in Windows.
Switching to certain language is more varied, but is limited to (Ctrl|Alt)+Shift+(digit,~,Grave Accent).

http://www.auburn.edu/forlang/russian/cyrillic-setup/cyrillic.html - also has the option for a phonetic keyboard.

don't do it. type like russians do. phonetic is quite sillu anyway as so many letters in russian and english do not have a corresponding letter in the other language, so you still have to memorize where certain letters are anyway. just get stickers and you'll learn the keyboard layout quickly.

I highly recommend this. If your brain has enough space for a different keyboard layout, learn Dvorak. Even if you found yourself in a situation where you were in Russia on a Russian computer you could easily type phonetic on it.
