Verbs Without A First-Person Singular Conjugation

So, certain verbs, such as чудить, победить, and бдеть, don't have an accepted conjugation in the first-person singular. Aside from all the questions that come up regarding why this happens, I was wondering: If someone were to say "я чудю/чужу", "я победю/побежу", or "я бжу/бдю" in the appropriate context, would they be understood? And, are these verbs ever used in a first-person singular conjugation for effect in writing or speech? If so, how?

EDIT: Is there a definitive list of verbs that behave like this?

These verbs are really seldom used in first-pers sing. But I would say бдю, чудю, побеждаю (becouse победю is more like future). It sounds a bit strange but that's so :)

I don't remember them ever written in 1st singular, but surely in speech people do use one or the other form or both often with a comment of being unsure which form's right just like you've indicated. So, as long as you don't write it or transform the sentence to use a different form (e.g. infinitive, gerund, participle or other tense, person or count) you should be OK. Saying either or both is OK. If there's any confusion, you'll be asked.

Yeah, I think they would be understood but it's still not an accepted norm. The only effect would be comical! It was actually used in the Russian translation of Winnie-the-Pooh: he's in doubt as to which variant to use in a poem.

It sounds comical indeed, in both forms, so it's better to use an alternative way, for example: "Я одержу победу".

P.S. The phrase "Я бжу" can also be mistaken for "I fart" :)

in formal speech it woul be rather regarded as a mistake - one should take care of his grammar and pronounciation)))

But in every day speech it would be okay sometimes, though it is usually used as a joke ;)

Besides these words certain embarrassement arises with such words as
- пылесосить (пылесоШУ - пылесоСЮ who knows!) better буду пылесосить
- снабжать (снабЖУ?? noo..) will be better in the form смогу снабдить/

An example of "победю" can be found in a joke song by Владимир Высоцкий:

И король ему прокашлял: - Не буду
Я читать тебе моралей, юнец!
Если завтра победишь Чуду-юду,
То принцессу поведешь под венец.

А стрелок: - Да это что за награда?
Мне бы выкатить портвейна бадью!
А принцессу мне и даром не надо -

This gives an idea of the context in which it's acceptable to use 'победю' and the like.
