I have a rather vaugue question, that hopefully someone will be able to help me with. If not, I'm really sorry for asking such a silly question.

I'm in russia right now, it's great nd all that. But I was wondering if anyone would happen to know the name of a dish I've eaten a few times. It's basically like a pie, but made with milk and possibly cheese or sour cream, then baked. It's kind of the consistency of cottage cheese. IF someone can help me that would be great, otherwise, I'll just have to ask around here.

Thank you.

Looks round, with a round portion of baked sour cream in the middle?

Or just sweet "cottage cheese" mixed with flour and then baked so that it gets dark brown? Thick small pies?

It spread to northeast early enough that it could be considered Russian as well. ^_^
In its Romanian/Bulgarian version, called brynza, not feta, that is, although this
type of cheese is extremely common in Balkans throughout.

It's interesting, thought, that while name of the cheese is of Romanian origin in
Russian, the cheese itself is much closer to Greek feta, than to Romanian brânză de
burduf.

Believe me (I am from Russia) it is "vatrushka" - ватрушка
Sometimes baker adds some raisins in cottage cheese.
Very delicious!

Why don't you think it's сырник? :)

Because сырники are not baked but fried.

If it's a home food, then it's definitely "запеканка".

if it's not ватрушка maybe хачапури? and if it's not хачапури then you should seek some out because it is mucho vkusno.
