What is the most "neutral" (i.e. lacking any sort of emotional/judgemental charge) term for a "security guard"? I've come up with охранник and сторож, but these (at least according to teh Internets) remind me uncomfortably-much of something more akin to a вышибала (those 2m-tall guys with flat heads and who can only reply with: "no" or a fat fist to your face). More as in, the people in airports or sitting at the front desk in big banking offices? A bit like this guy, except without looking like a soliciting douchebag:

P.S. Is it true that Russian girls are not only gorgeous, but also kind, realistic and like to cook? In that case, which would sound more attractive: "I'm from Scotland", or: "I'm from California"?

I found that most people in Russia were able to separate the president's foreign policy from me as a person.

Seriously, though, that is bizarre logic. He did not get 100% of the vote, so obviously there are quite a few Americans (that would be, like, 100 million of us, I think) who don't like him. To assume that someone likes their own president is silly.

You pay taxes to support a military which is killing Iraqis. To an Iraqi, that's pretty much as far as the "reasonable" side of thought goes.

I beg to differ: I'm not even Russian and I've literally had things thrown at me by large groups of people for being a "filthy commie / terrorist / etc". But perhaps entire communities in America aren't reasonable-- even in the "laid-back liberal bastion" that is Southern California.

But not to fuel a flame war already beginning. The main point, I believe, is: being American just isn't sexy. Talk with some Germans to better understand this phenomenon.

You are wrong. Охранники work in big shops or supermarkets, сотрудники службы безопасности - in office centers or smth. Anyone can be охранник, but you should have education and experience to be сотрудник службы безопасности :)

Ha! You got the first part right, at least. I don't think I would apply those other characteristics to a larger proportion of Russian women than American or British. I would, however, say that Canadian women seem to be kind and realistic to a larger degree. Not that you asked...

Well... I think it depends on the girl. =) I would say that in many cases the most attractive would be: "I'm smart" ;-) At least for those russian girls I like communicating with.
