2 little sentence translation

In a forum about computer programming I read a message. One of the sentences is "17 мегабайт с копейками" I guess that means something like "17 mb can be payed"? I couldn't be sure. Another sentence is "работу можем оплатить" which means, I believe, "work can be payed".

Can anyone help me with these sentences? Thanks advance.

The first one - "a little bit more than 17 mb ".

Since this phrase uses the word копейка (kopeck), it looks like it evolved from a reference to money into a more general meaning of "a little bit more." Do you agree?

Actually it sounds quite logical. In Turkish we use phrases with money meaning the same in Russian.

It just struck me that we have this exact phrase in English as well. "17 megabytes and some change" -- although it is rather colloquial it would be widely understood.

The 2d sentence means exactly what you write, but the first one is a very different thing:) It means ¨a bit more than 17 mb¨... loke, 17 mb and 17 bites or whatever...

It´s a common way in colloquial Russian to denote ¨a little of smth¨...
Мы доехали за два часа с копейками - it tokk us a bit more than 2 hours to get there.

Everyone else has translated the basic meaning of "17 мегабайт с копейками" correctly. Please allow me to add that the most accurate translation is "17 MB and change." с копейками translates as "and change" meaning just a little bit more than.
