Hello. It's a question mostly to those who teach Russian to foreigners. What texts would you recommend for a preintermediate learner? It is for reading with the purpose of getting new vocabulary and grammar patterns and then activating it through retelling, paraphrasing, and discussion.

Do you mean adapted literature, or what do you mean?

Adapted literature would be hard to find. What I mean is a particular author or title. Something with simpler language and style. May be some books for children?

I read The Little Prince (Malenkii Prints) when I was at about an intermediate level. I really enjoyed it because it is a nice story and the language is pretty easy.

I think songs are an extremely useful way to teach pre-intermediate students. The sentences aren't usually too long, you can often find a few grammar points in every song. Most lyrics aren't too difficult to understand or, if they are, the song can easily be repeated a few times in class. As a student, I found them useful because I could listen to them repeatedly and try to mimic the pronunciation... usually in the shower :)

You could have them rewrite the song from a different viewpoint, have them paraphrase it in 3rd person, and discuss certain cultural/emotional aspects of the song.
