Odd Russian words?
Feb. 17th, 2007 12:38 amHow about some oddities and peculiarities of Russian words?
Like with 3 е's in a row?
длинношеее
Or 3 у's?:
усугубить
Or 7 о's?:
обороноспособность
Or something else that jumps into your eyes? Are there any words in your opinion that you'd never imagine to exist until you actually saw them? Something like complicated spelling, pronunciation or with lack of connection between these two, or anything?
UPDATE: I'm not asking for swearing, slang or words distorted in some stupid (or you may consider clever) way. Or invented words (some examples from literature/poetry: любенок, могатырь). I could write examples like that myself, though I did not do that because the intent was different. Please restrain to normal language, unless you know Russian poorly and unsure what's normal and what's not.

Date: 2007-02-17 08:39 pm (UTC)лань - животное длинношеее, но жираф еще длинношееее
with four e in a row. It is gramatically correct, but a bit artificial, and it is better to say более длинношеее here.
