Can the ver сродниться с чем-то be translated as 'to get the hang of something', as in 'to get the hang of a technique...etc'?

If not, how would one say 'to get the hang of something' in russian?

It is definitely not the best equivalent, though I suppose it is possible in some contexts.

'to get the hang of something' I would say овладеть (чем-то), освоить (что-то), научиться (чему-то)

Literary "сродниться" means "to join the tribe". The next grade of "to familiarize".
