We're doing reflexive verbs in my class, and I think I'm missing something.

We were supposed to translate from English to Russian, and she marked the following as wrong:

What time does the hotel open?
Что время делает ресторан в открывается?

What time does the museum open?
Что время музей открывается?

I'm not sure what I did wrong there, because I got the other 10 sentences correct. Should I have put какое instead of что?

Well she was right because this is wrong.
First, I don't see how did you get "ресторан" from "hotel".

открывается is correct in both cases but "what time" is not "что время", it is "когда". "что время" is a nonsense. Alternatively you can ask "в какое время" or "во сколько".

your reflexive seems fine.... it's your translation of 'what time' that is incorrect.

it should be

во сколько. or когда.

... I'm also suprised that your teacher doesn't give you the correct variant of things she's marked wrong.

It would be so much more helpful if s/he did.

In addition to what the other two said

What's with the "делает" and the "в" in the first sentence?

I'm guessing that maybe you translated "does" too literally. In English, this is a meaningless "do" and is not the same as the verb "to do". Russian doesn't need a dummy verb in questions/negatives like English, so never translate the dummy "do".

there is no 'в' needed at all.

"What" doesn't only mean "что" but also "какой". "What time" = когда, в какое время. "Does" is an auxilary verb and meaningless here.
What time=когда
does=
the notel= гостиница
open= открывается?

"Do" is a 'dummy' verb, not a modal. Modals are: must, can, could, may, might, shall, should, will, would.
Don't confuste them with the auxiliaries be and have, either.
