Hello people :)
I started learning Russian a week ago (i'm attending intensive class of 30 hours for start).Since I'm Slovenian I don't have problems learning it,actually,about 80% of the words are the same/similar.What I wanted to ask is...What do I have to do to write in Cyrillic on Live journal?i don't have that kind of keyboard.So what to do?

Don't be confused, BTW. The same roots do not necessary lead to same meaning. I know nothing about particularly Slovenian, but there are lots of examples in the languages closer to the Russian like Ukrainian, Polish or Bulgarian where the words of the same origin and similarly sounded are rather far by the actual meaning if not opposite.

Russian уродина (ugly) - Polish uroda (beauty)
Russian запамятовать (to forget) - Polish zapamiętować (to remember)
Russian позор (shame) - Polish, Czech pozor (attention)
Russian луна (moon) - Ukrainian луна (echo)
Russian старец (old person) - Ukrainian старец (beggar)
Russian год (year) - Ukrainian годіна (hour)
Russian стол (table) - Bulgarian стол (chair)
Russian преступный (criminal) - Czech prestupny (transfer)
Russian тварь (beast) - Czech tvar (creation)

Upražnjenje=Vprašanje (question) (I'll just write How I pronounce it...If I take that keyboard it'll take forever...
Stul=Stol (chair?Or is it Stol?)
Avtamabil=Avtomobil (Car)
banan = banana (banana)
Jolka = jelka (that tree...Dunno the English Word)
Čas = čas (time)
Ponedelnik = ponedeljek (Monday)
Vtornik = Torek (Tuesday)
Sreda = sreda (wednesday)
Četverg = Četrtek (Thursday)
Pjetnica = Petek (Friday)
Subota = Sobota (Saturday)
Only Sunday is completely different....
I could go like this forever.Even a lot of verbs are similar.
But I do understand your point.I'm still waiting to get across something completely diffrent :D

in Russian "stul" means chair and "stol" - table

Упражнение is not question, it's an exercise
час is time in some archaic expression, in the everyday language it's an hour

how is it Sunday in Slovenian? May I guess something like nedelja?

'Cuz it's the same in Ukrainian and most other Slavic languages. In Russian it was also the same, but was changed due to Church influences.

:) It's common word for all Slavic languages except Russian. It existed in the ancient Russian but had been overcome by воскресенье coming from the resurrection of Jesus Christ. But however, as an additional sample of those strange wandering of words, "неделя" survived in Russian as the word for "a week".

When we were in Slovenia last summer, we were very funned about “~ zamudil (Be late ) ” it sounds like “zamudil” – in Russian it’s slang word a little bit swearing :) … Also “Ponos” (pride) – it’s diarrhea :))))

Živjo! V kateri jezikovni šoli opravljaš tečaj? Tudi jaz se zelo zanimam za ruščino, zato bi bila super vesela, če bi mi lahko napisala nekaj svojih vtisov... Zelo hvala že vnaprej :)

Ojla.Sem zbrisala svoj star account in začela znova,tako da sem avtor tegale posta jaz.
Ruščino se učim v Zavodu ŠOLT, predavanja pa imamo 4× na teden v študentskem domu Rožna Dolina v LJ...Cena 30 urnega tečaja je 22.500 SIT za dijake in študente.V sredo zaključujemo prvo stopnjo,in nadaljujemo v oktobru z drugo.
S tečajem sem super zadovoljna, predavateljica je iz Ukrajine (sicer študira v LJ), tako da govori rusko že od malih nog...Full je prijazna in vse..Na prvi stopni spoznaš cirilico, dobiš precej besednega zaklada,poudarek je na komunikaciji,ne toliko na pisanju kot na branju...Od slovnice spoznaš spregatve glagolov,nepravilne glagole,preteklik,množino samostalnikov,zaimke,velelnik.
to je okvirno to.Lep dan :)
