Heya,

I'm sorry as this is "a little" off-topic, and I shall bow my head in shame, but I couldn't find it out any other way. I am looking for the "nickname" or "diminitive" of a Russian name. So, Ivan becomes Vanya, Aleksandr becomes Sasha - but what does Vadim turn into?

Thanks a lot!

Not Vadik (Вадик) only, it may be Vad (Вад) and Vlad (Влад).

"на, сука" it`s not the "ha, suka". it`s "na, suka" - similar to "take that, bitch". so, I think it`s clear whom I being rude to? ))

Vlad comes from Vladislav (Владислав), not from Vadim.

no rules. My friend Vadim is called Dima, cause his parents didn't like Vadik.

Well, his parents just made mistake, calling him "Vadik" after born. So, probably, they've just renamed him into "Dima" and say, that he was "Vadik" before)
Just take a look on names tree. It's placed in almostly each Russian>X dictionary end. Vadik and Dima have different creation seeds.

what then do you think about Tata and Tusia from both Tatiana and Natalia? Ljalja from Olga and Elena?
There are no strict rules about nick names, it is creative thing.
