St. Petersburg

Hello, everyone! I'm going to be in St. Petersburg from June to August taking a few classes at the Russian State Pedagogical University (Herzen) through ACTR. I was just curious if anyone else in the community had done it before, or has any other bits of advice about St. Petersburg before I head off. Also, if there is there is anyone in the city who would like to hone their English skills, I'd be more than happy to see if we can't make that happen in exchange for help with my Russian.

Мне хотелось бы узнать, есть ли кто-нибудь в этом коммюнити, который уже сделал это, или есть ли ответ для меня о Петербурге до того, как лечу туда. Oh yeah! I went with ACTR and really liked it.

If you can, request to live with Valentina and Evgeny Epshtein. They are wonderful and live right next door to the Hermitage.

I guess it is better to say "по линии ACTR" than "через ACTR" in this context.

i have more remarks and i'll write them here if you want, so i'll just write the one that you most likely won't find in the dictionary: community is usually written as коммьюнити, because there's j before u. :)

I am from St.Petersburg but I don't live there anymore, although I'm going to be there in June. We are going to St.Petersburg in Fall with my husband where he will study Russian. We would like to know your opinion about classes you are going to take b/c we haven't chosen any school yet. As quem98 noted ACTR is a really good program and your russian will boom from being immersed in it. They will have new resident directors this summer and upcoming academic year so it maybe really interesting.

looking for a student

Dear, our family with 3 y.o. child plans to provide free place to live and other benefits to native English speaking student.
Our family consists of grandma, grandpa, mam, dad and sun. All family members have higher education and are working in different spheres: audit, hi-tech, comp. science.
We wish to invite a young person (girl is more preferable :)) from the UK or US in fond of children and dreaming of studding language in St.-Petersburg University or other uni to do a good career in the future.
Main responsibilities are designed now as to play with the boy, to read books and to tell him the stories for 3-4 hours a day.
We can suggest the following living conditions: private room (or private cottage after construction works will be finished) in the familiy's villa in the nearest suburb of St.-P (45 min from the cener of St.-Petersburg), meal, housekipper's services, mountain sking on weekends etc.
But I suppouse you have already found you landlords and are not interested in us as well as in skiing in July :)
