Hi, does anybody know of a website offering free recordings of Russian prose read aloud, that are actually available to download (and not just streamed)? Practically any prose will do, but actual Russian literature would be preferable. Thanks.

I can't tell you where to find cool downloadable stuff, BUT, I can tell you that TotalRecorder is a nifty program that lets you "capture" streaming audio on your computer. You can save it in a number of formats, even take things "on the road" in your iPod or iWhatever. I've found it very useful in my Russian studies.

Just thought I'd share. :)

Hi Nomi,

Is this what you're talking about? If so, do you recommend standard or professional version? Thank you.

For my purposes, the standard edition has done just fine. I only use it to record music, Russian news on the web, and my own pronunciation (big help in that area), and that's a few times a week. If I wanted to edit the sound files, or splice/dice/split them, etc. the professional version would be ideal. Plus, the professional version can open webpages for itself at scheduled times. For the standard, I have to do that manually, which doesn't really bother me. So I guess either is good. It just depends how much you think you'll use it and for what purposes.

Try out the evaluation versions. They function the same way, just there's an audible interruption every minute or so. To get rid of that, you just buy a license. Cool, huh? :)

Actually this is mostly (if not all) poetry, but someone might find some use of it.
Sorry about that.
