Just to make sure that I don't disseminate incorrect information, I ask you:

Breakfast cereal. What do you call it, in general?
Напитки - это не обязательно значит алкогольные, правда? I ask only because this book puts only alcoholic drinks under the "Напитки" heading, then puts tea, coffee, water and juice under the "молочные продукты" heading, which is OBVIOUSLY wrong, but makes me question my sanity.

Спасибо!

As far as I know, there is no general term for breakfast cereal, except maybe "сухие завтраки".
Напиток is any kind of drink, alcoholic or soft. Tea, coffee, water and juice definitely should not be under Молочные продукты.

Breakfast cereal sometimes is called хлопья. Кукурузные хлопья, for example.

And yes, напитки can be non-alcoholic as well. Sometimes, to avoid misunderstandings, restaraunts are putting алкогольные напитки and безалкогольные напитки headers on the menu. Молочные продукты is definitely wrong.

Not all of them are хлопья. There are, for examplе, колечки and подушечки - you could hardly call any of these хлопья.

I know, but the first ones were хлопья and most people I know call them exactly that - even if they are колечки or подушечки. Что ты ешь на завтрак? - Хлопья с молоком.

"Хлопья" is definitely the right way to go here.

One should remember that in invitations, menus, etc. "Подаются напитки" usually means "Подаются алкогольные напитки".
