How would one pronounce жидкокристалический? I believe that's the word. It means liquid-crystalline, but when I hear it spoken, it sounds like Gidkatolicheskiy or something amongst those lines. Could someone write down the actual pronounciation either in russian or english, either one is good. Thanks.

we can't produce (o) sound in the mid word unless the syllable is stressed

also we can't give a proper transcription of all russian sounds with latin simbols.

but if we try, that will be margaritka7 variant [zhitkakristalicheskij]

and

[житкъкрист лическиj]

sorry couln't find one symbol anywhere

And the bottom line is, it's pronounced strictly according to the rules. It's not irregular in any way.

> Gidkatolicheskiy

Good one, but be careful with that kind of language.

"Kike Catholic"

I can't hear how you read it and i can't hear the ukrainian :) but i think if you have someone around to teach you russian transcription simbols it will be easier learning pronunciation. Latin is not for that.

it's a simbol of j-sound, like the final sound in words gay, pray, lie etc.

It's much easier to pronounce splitting it mentally into жидко and кристаллический. It could be similarly difficult to pronounce красногвардейский or краснохолмский but splitting should help.

Hi! Жидкокристаллический=jidkocristallicheskii*
jidkocristallicheskii=jidko + cristall + icheskii
Are you all really can't pronounce this word, created from your cristall?

*in this transcription j=ж, and c=к

Especially from the point of view of a Ukrainian speaker :) In Ukrainian гидко /g'idko/ - nasty (adverb)
