Dec. 19th, 2005 07:27 amI've seen other posts containing vulgarity, but if this is inappropriate, please ask me to cut/delete this post.
A friend of mine is doing a short film that contains several scenes in Germany in Russia. He is going to try to get the dialogue placed in these countries in its proper languages, rather than having the foreigners speak English. There is very little foreign dialogue, and it is mostly simple, so together we have had very little trouble directly translating these phrases. However, in one scene, a character says "I am horny." This dialogue should be in Russian. As it is a bit colloquial, we are having a hard time asking our academically-trained friends for translation suggestions. Can anyone help out?
If you post a translation, please specify which connotation the translation has. Whether it is goofy, sultry, scientific, etc. Anything will do, but we would prefer to know what exactly is meant, as we are going for a genuine construction (we would most prefer a sultry tone, but as the film will be mostly viewed by English speakers, a Russian phrase that would sound goofy to Russian speakers but which would sound sultry to the English ear would do well). I know it's an odd thing, but the effectiveness of the film, my friend believes, is based on stimulation of the senses, and both integrity and pleasantness of sound will affect this. It would be best if the phrase were given in Cyrillic. Thank you!
