Learning russian

Hi, everyone!
We are coming to Moscow next year (most probably in February), my friend wants to study Russian at language courses.
Can you please advise on smth good? I've heard good things about Pushkin's university of Russian language so far.

Pushkin university is a good choice. All foreigners I know who studied Russian in Moscow studied Russian in this university.

I've heard very BAD things about Pushkin from an American professor of Russian. Stick with MGU or something.

what kind of bad things?
to say the truth, i don't really want to stick with MGU or MGIMO because I believe it's mostly the "big name" they take BIG money for, nor the education itself.

knowing nothing about this institution, I woulg only merely suggest that it was their Web site hosted on a free hosting service which would scare the Heck from me, should I happen to be their prospective student :)

It doesn't matter, because best Moscow school of foreign languages doesn't have any web site... (i'm sorry for my bad english :) )
And Moscow Language Institute was founded in 1980 as Sovincenter School of Russian Language...

Believe me, it DOES matter :) I would gladly trust my money and my education to an old conservative institution with no Web site at all, but a school with a narod.ru free hosted Web site? Gimme the break :)
