A translator gives me "adapted to stage process" and just by looking at the word, it seems to have something to do with theatre. Perhaps the process of turning something into a movie/play?

I think it means "show trial", come to think of it.

Perhaps that process resembles a theatrical performance, with its roles and visual effects.

Is it by any chance related to trials of Stalin's era? Then it will be something like "staged-up process", meaning that everything was predefined from the very beginning, the witnesses said what they were told by the police to say etc.
