another incomprehensible sentence in Russian

Here's another sentence that has been deemed incomprehensible in Russian by some of the readers of my personal LJ:

На прошлой четверге, мне кричали на час и каждый раз я старалась ответить, мне кричали "Молчат!"

This is what I was trying to write: "Last Thursday, they yelled at me for an hour and every time I tried to respond (defend myself), I was told to "Shut Up."

Again, if anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong with this sentence, I would greatly appreciate it:)

В прошлый четверг (1), (они) на меня кричали час (в течение часа) и всякий (каждый) раз, когда я пытался ответить(2), мне говорили "Замолчи" (Молчать!). (3)

(1) Thursday is male :)), "На прошлой" is it possibl to say "week" - на прошлой НЕДЕЛЕ.
(2) try = стараться, пытаться. The right variant is last, i suppose it is not a work to try to do it, but an activity in some meaning -> to do something to protect yourself or smth like this.

(3) Shup Up -> it is an order I think :))So "МолчатЬ!" "молчат" -it is a form - they keep silence -> они молчат.

"Shut up!" in this case would rather be "Заткнись!"
"Молчать!" is what a sergeant would yell at a soldier.

Oh, well when the person yelled "Молчать!" at me, I translated it as "Shut up!"

"Молчать!" is just as rude as "Заткнись!", right???

It is about as rude, yes, but there are nuances.
"Молчать" would only come from a higher authority (a commander, a boss, a teacher etc). Also, it is quite rude for a teacher or a boss. That's why I said - "a sergeant".

Between peers you would rather use "Заткнись". Note, that is almost never used in a benign manner like in English (jokingly, between friends).
In that case you would use "Перестань" or "Да ну, брось" (which both mean "stop it").

Yes, the person I'm working with yelled that at me last week... I called my boss in Moscow afterwards and asked if I could change my plane ticket, so I could leave early, and my boss called the person who yelled at me... They had a conversation (I don't know the details), but suddenly this person is being SUPER NICE to me...

The whole experience was very unpleasant, but I learned some new vocabulary in Russian, so it wasn't a complete waste:)
