The first thing I see is publishing year - 1981. Be prepraed to see most topics on Lenin, Soviet Union, Comunism, etc. On your place, i'd purchased something newer.

I know that book! My first year Russian teacher used it when he learned Russian, and he told us the story of his first class with great verve. It was taught by a Russian lady who spoke in a piercing shriek, and she walked into the classroom and bellowed at them all "Как живут ударники?" THey might have had the book, but they sure didn't know the alphabet or any grammar, let alone how to answer the question. And she kept bellowing at them, until finally one person tentatively tried to repeat the question, stopping after the first word. And she looked at him and screeched even louder, "Kak! Kak! I want good kak!"
Knowing my first year teacher, I have my doubts as to how much of this is true, but it verifies the story to see the book.
