Hello,
*waves*

My name is Marie-Pierre. I have just started my first course of Russian this week, and I was wondering if anyone would know of a site where I could listen to a -song- to learn the Cyrillic Alphabet. I have already been refered to a website where I can hear it one letter at a time, but I find a song would be more useful.
Any idea?

Thank you!

I am not even sure there is such a song... I heard one very unofficial version and it was mostly a parody, but I guess it might work for your goal. Anyway, without any specific tune you can try this:

А Б В Г Д
Е Ж З
И К Л М Н
О П Р
С Т У Ф Х Ч
Ш Щ твёрдый знак
Ы мягкий знак Э Ю Я

You sign the names of the letters, not the sounds that they make. The tune that WAS used for a Georgian song "Suliko", you can probably find a MIDI file.

Good luck.

P.S. This song is actually missing 2 letters. In the actual alfabet it is Е Ё, not just Е, and И Й, not just И.

http://www.dkrus.dk/Russisk%20Musik.htm and click on Suliko.mid. You'll need to play with syllables a bit, but it's doable.

Thirty-three sisters
Real beauties
Live on one page
But are famous everywhere

Now they come here in haste
Those nice sisters
We ask all kids
To make friends with them

А Б В Г Д Е Ж
came here riding a hedgehog!

З И К Л М Н О
all together climbed out of the window

П Р С Т У Ф Х
mounted a rooster

Ц Ч Ш Щ Ы Э Ю Я
that's all of them, friends!

Children, get acquainted with them,
Here are they - standing in line
The life is not nice at all
For those who does not know them!

Are you trying to sing my English translation of it? You would not be able to - there is no rhyme or rhythm. There are both in Russian version, though. It sounds like

A, Beh, Veh, Geh, Deh, Eh, Zheh
Pree-ka-tee-ly nah-eh-zhe.

Hope you got the picture.

P.S. I am not sure whether there is an audio file of this one, but maybe other people here will be able to help.

Just notes?

Could you provide just a copy of the notes of the tune? A scanned music page will do. If so, a midi file can easily be generated.

I am afraid not; there was an animated cartoon movie with this song but there is no sheet music lying around that I could find; maybe someone else will be able to recall what was the name of the cartoon.

Actually, one can sing it to the tune of English alphabet song (the one that goes like
A, B, C, D, E, F, G
la la la la la la la)

I was taught a song that went something like:
А Б В Г Д Е Ж
Вот что знаю я уже!
З И К Л М Н О
(something about окно - I think it translated to "I'm not looking out the window at all!")

And that's all I remember. It's not too dissimilar from [livejournal.com profile] oryx_and_crate's.

Of course, that one was taught by my middle school Russian teacher, and my college professor has never heard that one...
