A friend of mine studies Russian and tries to find some fun ways to do that. One of them might be learning Russian songs. Since he's a beginner in studying the language, a song should be simple and has repetitions. He prefers some positive songs rather than sad. Also it has to be a quite popular song. Children songs are fine. If somebody has any ideas, it would be great. Thanks in advance.

I don't have any specific suggestions off the top of my head (except, maybe songs from Soviet movies and/or cartoons - for example, Three Musketeers).

But I would recommend staying away from modern pop songs. They don't make any sense to native speakers half the time, nevermind folks who are just learning the language. :)

Check out films by Leonid Gaidai. Most of them were made back in the 60s or so, if I recall correctly. But they tend to actually have songs in them and, well, they are just plain good movies. =) A good number are out on DVD with English subtitles, too.

Perhaps <a href="http://playroom.com.ru/framesong.htm>this collection</a> might be of some use. There are quite a few song lyrics sites out there, and a number of them have kids' sections, and movies sections. (I like <a href="http://www.kulichki.com/rusclub/">Russian Club</a> and <a href="http://www.ostrovok.de/old/songs/">Ostrovok</a>, myself.) See if you find anything there you like.
