Hmmm... you know, as for me, I think I almost never use the word понадобиться. I am not sure why, maybe because it's so long. I use "надо" or "нужен". Like "мне надо (нужно) убрать квартиру - I have to clean the apartment AND для уборки квартиры мне нужна (будет) швабра - I (will) need a mop for cleaning my apartment.
So "понадобиться" is not a verb you can't live without.
Woops, I meant to say conjugate. But what I was trying to ask you answered anyway. What I was referring to was how in English the subject changes from "ты" to "I".

Date: 2005-08-07 05:12 am (UTC)надо = must or have to do something. No options offered;
понадобиться = might have a need for something. Normally used as "может понадобиться";

понадобится is normally used with a noun
для уборки квартиры мне понадобится швабра и ведро (for cleaning my apartment, I will need a mop and a bucket).

Date: 2005-08-10 04:54 pm (UTC)And понадобиться is indeed conjugated when used with a noun or a pronoun. But not when used with a verb. Compare:
Ты мне понадобишься завтра, чтобы передвинуть шкаф в моей комнате.
I will need you tomorrow to move a cupboard in my room.
Завтра мне понадобится передвинуть шкаф.

Date: 2005-08-10 11:41 pm (UTC)Easy
Date: 2005-08-10 08:58 pm (UTC)надо -PRESENT TENSE (trans. - "need")
Not that easy
Date: 2005-08-11 07:08 pm (UTC)So, one still has to explain what is the difference between надо будет and понадобится.
It still breaks down very easy.
Date: 2005-08-11 08:28 pm (UTC)Here's a more detailed approach.
понадобиться - future PROGRESSIVE tense (trans. -"will BE needing")
надо - present tense (trans. - "need")
надо будет (which is really a different phrase) - future tense non-progressive, expecting a verb. (trans. - "will need to").
p.s.
"надо" - must (not "need")
"нужно"- need
They're used interchangeably (with different emphasis) as they are in english.
