it comes from "курица - chicken"
чьих - курьих.

курий (m), курья (f) adj. - one that belongs to hen, chicken. In the current language is used mostly in a set expression "избушка на курьих ножках" - izba on chicken legs which is used in Russian fairy tales.

And, to be added, that "курьих" was used here instead of "куриных" because it is derived from the word "кура", which is still used in villages when refering to hen.
