I wonder... among the non-natives, how many are Bulgarian? ;-)

I love that there are so many native Russians in this community! Helpful, insightful, wonderful lot that you are.

I love that there are so many learners in this community!
Thank you!

You make me feel good and useful, at least that part of my brain that holds HUGE amount of otherwise useless knowledge - Russian language. How much I would give to switch it with perfect English, and then I would have luxury to become another humble learner in this community. :))

No, seriously, when I started to read that community I though:
Oh my God, I know so much! And I don't use it at all!

You're right!
And then a question was put about the forms of the verb быть and I thought - wow, THEY know them and I don't, what a shame! :D

Out of all of the foreign language communities that I subscribe to, learn_russian is the best.

Hey, I know this last word so I can guess what the rest is :)) Shall I remind that the working language of this community is English? ;-)))

Oh no... [livejournal.com profile] learn_albanian exists, and the working language appears to be English.

*ahem* .... but to stay on topic... I never learned to speak Russian properly in a classroom. Most of it was self-taught from books (and the internet :)) and a bit from Russian friends and of course my dear grandmother. Grandmother used to be fluent when she was younger, but she's forgotten so much. It's sad to forget a language. She's now 80 years old and for most of those years she has been immersed in a mono-lingual English speaking environment. I am continually amazed at her recollections of certain phrases, songs, the words for common items, etc.

Grandmother was born in the USA, but she grew up speaking Russian at home and in the local community.

I just noticed that people are always asking you the same question. About your being part Russian, and stuff about your Grandmama.

I feel so pampered! It's like, there's more than one TA for every student.

This community gives me a warm feeling inside :)

It makes for a good community to have more native speakers, which keeps a lack of discrepancies in learning.
