Jun. 6th, 2005 04:14 pmQuick request: May someone explain the difference between: запомниться, напомнить, помнить, вспомнить, and I think (can't recall) that I've seen a впомнить.
And what would be the meaning of "Это вам запомнится легко?"
And: Can someone tell me some literature/music one would have read in their first/second year Russian class? I was flipping through a textbook at a college, and I saw Телефон, and I remember watching a video of Middlebury Russian Language Session that the guy was reading the poem to his students. I would just hate to have missed out on anything Russian-identifying because I had a tutor instead.

"Это вам запомнится легко" - It will be easy for you to remember.
Напомнить - to remind
Помнить - to remember
Вспомнить - to recall
there is no впомнить (could be a typo)

помнить - to remember
вспомнить - to recall
впомнить is definitely a mistake, there's no such word. ;)
The meaning of the phrase is "You'll memorize it quickly"
The exact (word-by-word) translation is 'This will be memorized by you very easily'
The last one - i'm not a good advisor here. ;)

напомнить = remind
помнить and вспомнить mean both "to remember", but the former is imperfective and the latter is perfective.
Впомнить is not a word, but there is a colloquial verb упомнить which means "to hold in memory" or "to remember" specifically when there is talk about remembering a lot of things, for example: всю эту массу подробностей упомнить просто невозможно.
