it's summer!

Hi all! I'm a Russian student, and I would love it if some of you would give me recommendations for reading material for the summer.

I've taken two years of Russian, and so far I can understand short stories, poems, and songs with the aid of a dictionary - nothing too long or archaic yet. I need to improve my vocabulary and reading skills because I will probably be doing a history research project involving Russian sources in the fall, and in the spring I hope to go on the SIT program to Russia and do some kind of social research project.

Anything interesting or educational that you'd recommend would be awesome. Thank you!

www.lib.ru is definitely a good place to look for russian reading.
I can recommend Антона Павловича Чехова (http://www.lib.ru/LITRA/CHEHOW/), he is a well-known master of short stories. The language is somewhat specific (XIX century), but you can always ask for help in this community =)
Also, I higly recommend you to try reading this author: Иван Бунин (http://www.lib.ru/BUNIN/).

Well, if you are interested, I'd recommend one specific story, which is considered absolutely classical in Russia: Дама с собачкой (http://www.lib.ru/LITRA/CHEHOW/d.txt).
I'd really like to know your opinion..

I would recommend the russian translation of "The Chronicles of Narnia". The one "под редакцией Натальи Трауберг".
It is both good language and something you may already know :)
