hi. I'm new here, but I've always wanted to learn Russian ever since I listened to my Ukrainian piano teacher speak it. It's beautiful. I love foreign language. Using the alphabet in the userinfo, I tried to translate my name into Cyrillic. My name's Brooke (silent e) Heinichen (pronounced like the beer 'Heineken')

This is what I got:

As i understand, й doesn't follow х (and for that matter, й doesn't even sound like the ei in Heinichen) and you almost never put ы into a foreign word because few languages even have the actual ы sound.

I would say:
Брук Хайнэкин

A note about Ukrainian: I'm really glad you're learning Russian because it's a great language and whatnot, but Russian and Ukrainian are two completely different languages. To the untrained ear, yes, they sound similar... But once you start speaking Russian at a more proficient level, you'll hear just how different they actually are. Ukrainian is actually considered one of the most beautiful languages in Europe after Italian and maybe French? So, yes, it should sound pretty. I don't know about many other people here, but I don't know anybody, including myself, who thinks that Russian is a pretty language. I think it is very rich and impressive language, but it sounds pretty rough at times. I don't know, that's just what I think.

I think you are confusing "beautiful" and "melodious". Ukrainian was declared to be one of the most melodious languages, that is, it is normally spoken with a distinct rhythm, specific to the language. And yes, Italian is the most melodious.

Ђ is not a Russian letter, you need Б. Confusing, eh? The beer is normally spelled Хайнекен though it sounds somewhat like Хайныкэн. Good luck!

thanks to both of you guys!!! i asked my piano teacher.. she was born in the Ukraine, but spent a good portion of her life in Russia. And sorry, I thought I had Б because it looked so much the same, i just thought it was fancy because of the font.

Ђ is a letter from Southern Slavic languages, pronounced like 'ch' in English. As many have already said, you need Б.
