Hello! I was wondering if anyone knows any websites where I can find easy stories to read. I'm very much a beginner at Russian, and all the readings that are provided on MasterRussian.com seem a bit difficult. So I thought there might be children's stories out there somewhere. Does anyone know?

Hi! I am just starting to learn Russian. I am also new to LJ. I was on MasterRussian.com for the first time till quite late last night. Reading childrens stories sounds like a very good place to start! I am at the "learning the alphabet" stage and spelling simple words :)

Not sure if that's exactly what you're looking for, but there are plenty of traditional russian children stories (skazki) on this site: www.skazka.com.ru/people/russia/russia.html; have looked through some of them and think that they might me a bit hard to read for a beginner because of some out-of-date expressions and sentence structures etc., but may be you'll still find something intresting there

It's sad that I can actually understand some of the Russian morons on LJ better than most of these stories.

it's more of a poem. it was on this community awhile ago. If you click on the link at the top of the page, it takes you to other poems as well. After showing this to my tutor, she makes me read and memorize one every month.

That link is quite likely the biggest collection of russian children's tales on the net.
http://lib.ru - huge collection of almost every literature in Russian, including translations from other languages.

Oh no! lib.ru is the hugest collection, but in very low quality. In particular, I opened Mikhalkov's verses (http://lib.ru/TALES/MIHALKOW/stihi.txt) and this is what I saw:
- poor formatting (you start reading and soon realize that it is contents);
- no ё letter
- sometimes this Ё is re-coded to funny letters: "ДЯДЯ СТППА" etc.
