Do you want to listen to music, or you want to pay more attention to songs --- to impove your skills in listening russian words?

Russian online radio is a good option.

In this case, your best choice would be songs of Alexandra Pakhmutova, Vladimir Vysotsky, Bulat Okudzhava.
In that order --- because words of Vysotsky are more difficult to understand, and words of Okudzhava --- even more diffucult.

Here () you can find sound (RealAudio) and texts on Pakhmutova's song.
First of all pay attention to songs listed below:

"До свиданья, Москва" Listen (http://www.pakhmutova.ru/songs/olympiad.shtml#%E4%CF%20%D3%D7%C9%C4%C1%CE%D8%D1,%20%ED%CF%D3%CB%D7%C1)

You could try zvuki.ru (http://www.zvuki.ru/). It's a little slow, but they have a lot of probably illegal downloads. Just click on anything in Cyrillic.

My favorite Russian artist of the moment is Zemfira, though I also have to admit a fondness for the military kitsch of Lyube*. There are a lot of other Russian groups you might like, but you'll have to explore on your own--everyone's tastes are different.

* Each time I admit I like this group, it seems necessary to tack on "YES, I KNOW."

Out of curiousity, do you know where I could find a copy of the AIDS song? My computer is allergic to the one posted her website, for some reason. Real Audio is fine, too. I just want to get a chance to hear it finally.

And, do you know why she covered her tattoo?

:)

>but they have a lot of probably illegal downloads

Zvuki.Ru is one of the rare sources of 100% legal downloads of Russian music. Each and every track they have is licensed from the rights owner, be that a record label or a musician. I know their owner and editor, [livejournal.com profile] phoneme, pretty well. Zvuki is a legal business all right :)

You mean the strikethrough?

is there any difference

oh, I see - <strike> tag and <s> are interchangable.
Thank you.

I'm a big fan of Mikhail Krug. His stuff is findable in the States (somewhat) and I can understand most of what he says.

why? They are very solid and well done project, I'd say.
At least, much more professional in terms of sound and clips than most of Russian pop music 8)
And, furthermore, most of the men love lesbians =) so you're not alone dude

I'm a very gay man, actually. ;) They're well done ... but I heard they're just faking lesbianism to get guys to listen.

That's entirely possible, I guess.
I have no problem with that, though 8)

the stuff that disguises itself as авторская песня may be of interest to you: http://ml.edison.ru/. You can start with simple songs for kids. If you are willing to play some matching games, http://www.bards.ru would have lots of the lyrics (and may have .ra files as well).

I don't think that they're a good choice for listening comprehension; choirs generally aren't.
