learn_russianI know this is a bit of a silly request, but could I possibly enlist a native Russian speaker to chat with me in Russian over IM or ICQ?

зато and хотя... I know they're technically synonyms, but is there any difference in their usage?

Он не умел плавать, но зато он очень быстро бегал.
Он не умел плавать, хотя и мог продержаться на воде несколько минут.
