I was wondering if you knew any sayings that rhyme

что-то стало холодать,
не пора ли нам поддать

(it seems to be getting a little chilly, shouldn't we have a little drink)

я тоже хошу,
но мама спит
и я молчу

(lit: I want it too, but mama's asleep and i'm keeping quiet (you can't have what you want, wour wish is impossible))

correction

The second one is actually a slightly distorted line from a children's poem by Yelena Blaginina:

The first one (assuming "пораддать" = "поддать") is only one of an infinite number of rhymes providing an excuse for a drink. Here's a few more (you asked for it!):

Что-то руки стали зябнуть
Не пора ли нам дерябнуть?

(My hands seem to be getting cold,
Isn't it a good time for a drink?)

Не послать ли нам гонца
За бутылочкой винца?

(Should we send a courier
for a bottle of wine?)

Пивка -- для рывка.
(Some beer -- for a good jump-start.)

Водочки -- для заводочки.
(Some vodka -- to get us started.)

Shouldn't that be "я тоже хочу"?

Yeah... but at least mine is offensive to everyone equally. ;)

The correct "verse" is "Что-то стало холодать // Не пора ли нам поддать".

Here the verb "поддать/поддавать" [1. strike, kick; 2) (usually in reflexive form поддаваться) give away 3) add, increase] is used in its colloquial meaning "drink a shot of vodka" that proceeds from "поддать 3) add, increase".

The second saying that you quote is in fact a verse by Elena Blaginina:

Can you remember any more of the good-time-for-a-drink rhymes?

No, I can't - I do not drink and this part of culture is a big mystery for me. :)

You don't have to drink to know proverbs and sayings, do you?

Here's a few more that I like (no more alcohol):

Чужую беду руками разведу.
Meaning: other people's problems are always easy to solve.

На чужие ручки натяну онучки.
Онучки, онучи -- pieces of cloth wrapped around one's feet, worn inside boots or lapti.
Meaning: no work is difficult when someone else does it.

Шей да пори -- не будет пустой поры.
"First sew, then cut again -- a sure way to keep oneself busy". Said about someone who can't do anything right the first time.

Here's one more:

Мели, Емеля -- твоя неделя.
Емеля -- short form of the male name Yemelyan -- Lit. "Keep talking, Yemelya, it's your week". Meaning: you can talk forever if you like, I'm going to ignore you. Said to an overenthusiastic opponent after you realize that further argument will lead you nowhere.

Кому война, а кому -- мать родна!
Meaning: what is a problem to some may be a blessing to someone else. Said, usu. accusingly, about someone who benefits, directly or otherwise, from other people's pain or suffering.

I like this one:

- Как дела?
- Ещё не родила.
Когда рожу,
Тогда скажу.

(- What's up? - No, I haven't given birth to my baby yet, but as soon as I do, I'll tell you.)

Used when somebody asks you how you are doing and you don't want to answer. :-)) So, he/she goes "Как дела?", and doesn't expect anything wrong, and you complete the rhyme, and he/she is embarrased because of being too inquisitive.

It's not very polite, but it's funny and may be useful. And - no, the actual gender of the speaker doesn't matter.

Another variant:

-Как дела?
-Как сажа бела.

Meaning: my business (affair, feeling) is well as soot is white

From: [identity profile] nataxxa.livejournal.com
I remember from a play for children (we read it in kindergarten)
- Как дела?
- Голова еще цела

From: [identity profile] sibir-muzhyk.livejournal.com
- Еще водки хочешь?
- Н-нет...
- А будешь?
- Д-да!!!

- would you like more vodka?
- n-nope...
- Will drink?
- Yes, I will.

Вырвал зуб себе клещами - тоже мне болячка!
Потому что за плечами - белая горячка!
