Music and language acquisition recommendations

Hi,

I've never posted to this group before, and the last post regarding www.detskoeradio.com reminded me of a request I have for suggestions. I, at one point, was fairly fluent in Russian, but it's been at least 10 years since I've had the opportunity to use it in any regular capacity, and now I find myself in search of good books and materials to teach my son Russian. I always said I want to teach my children a language or two while still babies, so that they have the advantage when they grow up, in terms of language acquisition. Since I've been out of it for a while, and now that my little boy just turned one (he was also very premature, so couldn't do too much for the first few months he was in the NICU), I'm looking for recommendations on music (including lullabies (we'd also like the words and music - so we may sing, too)), children's books and stories. I've looked at Kniga.com, but since I'm unfamiliar with musical artists, I wasn't sure who to choose. Does anyone here have any suggestions for us?

моему сыну 1 год 4 месяца, мы, в основном, ставим ему сборник песенок из советских мультфильмов. кроме того, у меня есть целый диск mp3 с более чем 100 сказками, замечательно записанными в 1950-1990 на студии "Мелодия" профессиональными актерами и выходивших раньше на пластинках - "Али Баба и Сорок Разбойников", "Бибигон", "Голубая чашка", "Кошкин дом" и т.д. Сын их еще, конечно, не понимает, но все равно ставим, чтобы он слышал правильную речь, музыку.
К сожалению, не могу подсказать, где их можно заказать онлайн, но, если вы не найдете, могу записать и прислать их вам по почте из России, напишите на novsp@stal.ru

drop me an email, we can work something out...I have the almost complete collection of what spinka was talking about - during the Soviet times, a lot of things were produced for children on vinyl LP's (since there were no VCR's not to mention any newer video technologies). It's really great stories put to lyrics, read by professional actors, sung by professional singers, etc. It is from this colection that I play tracks on detskoeradio.com. So, like spinka mentioned, I have 'Али Баба и Сорок Разбойников', 'Бибигон" - which is a poem read by the author Корней Чуковский, "Голубая чашка" a story by А.Гайдар, "Кошкин дом" - lyrical (kind of even operetta-like) version of a poem by С.Маршак. I have a couple collections of lullabies as well, and I can pick those recordings which are the most age-appropriate (although to fully apreciate them your son will have to grow up a little :) I have one recording, "Сто фантазий' - a collection of songs and poems by Юнна Мориц - I gave that as a gift to my friends, and their 2-year old loves it so much the CD skips now. Site www.allofmp3.com has a fairly good selection of children music and it's not expencive. I'd recommend children's songs by Tatiana and Sergei Nikitiny. There are also some children fairy tales. If you will not be able to find them yourself, let me know.
