i have a quick question for anyone who wants to help me out. i'm looking for someone to help me learn russian, kind of one on one. theres a site i found from a professor who teaches russian and he has this WHOLE thing with homework and quizzes and tests and such, but unfortunately, i dont have anyone who could grade the work when im done. is there anyone who could help me out? i also would like this person to maybe be an online/offline pen pal where we can write to each other in english and russian and see how i progress. i had some russian friends here, but sadly, some of them thought i was trying to copy them and "be" russian, i guess, when all i'm trying to do is learn the language. ::shrugs:: if anyone is interested please leave a comment with an email address!! if you'd like to e-mail me yourself, my address is:

if you don't take a school course, i'd suggest you get something with some sort of audio component (e.g. CDs) to help with the pronunciation (doubly important when there is also a new alphabet to be learned). Also, i've found it helps to have more than one do-it-yourself course. I have a book called Simplified Russian Grammar, the Living Langauge Russian Coursebook, and the Barrons Express Track to Russian (which has several books and audio tapes (yes, it's old...)), among other things. also, check the community info here and any posts with links to stuff in russian and so on, the more Russian you expose yourself to, the better...

I used to have one of those really basic books that came with stickers to put on everything in your house. the book wasn't very helpful (just basic things like colors, phrases to tell your name and age, ordering in restaraunts, etc.) but the stickers were cute, and did help me get started.

I can help you, although I don't guarantee you any regularity. With the beginning of the semester I'm going to be a pretty busy person. But I can help you with proofing and grading your work.

you can knock to my yahoo messenger - asdbass@yahoo.com
